You know what would be awesome?

If someone got all the refugee resettlement agencies in New York State to pool their translation resources to translate things like the New York State Tenant’s Rights Guide into the most common languages used by refugees resettled in the state. We could create an online library with all these useful documents, something that could be accessed anytime by any resettlement agency in the state.

That would be awesome.

Tonight, I emailed an unofficial French translation of the New York State Tenant’s Rights Guide to all the resettlement agencies in the state, and asked for any similar documents in Karen or Burmese that anyone might happen to have lying around.

This is a not a line of work in which hoarding information benefits anyone, and in these lean times, resettlement agencies are going to have to find ways to pool their resources like never before.
